This week is the last week of this hockey season w

This week is the last week of this hockey season where I’m solo parenting and taking the kids to work, and I’m having all the feelings about it. I love having my kids at work with me - I love them getting to see me work, they love being a part of it, they subconsciously learn so much from it, they have gotten so good at independent play and working as a team. AND, it’s hard - my mental load goes up all day to make sure they are prepped beforehand, during, and afterward, so that I can be good at my job while having them in tow. And then I feel the pull sometimes of not being my best as a mom at moments when I feel like they could need more from me, but my main focus is needing to be on the work task at hand. It’s a beautiful juggle.

But knowing that from next week on, they will be able to be with J (or other family when we are home), and they will get to be outside more, and they can still come and go and see pieces of work is such a gift too.

And then the fall will be another adjustment period when they get used to coming back to work with me again…

Parenthood, folks. The brain never shuts it off. And isn’t that a treat in itself…!

Tomorrow marks 18 years that I’ve gotten to ride

Tomorrow marks 18 years that I’ve gotten to ride this roller coaster of life with the boy who stole my heart in this picture. Forever asking, what is time?!

Tell me, what do you do for your “dating anniversary”? We pretty much acknowledge it, and that’s it, but I love hearing the cute traditions that people have!

You know the common “you only get 18 summers wit

You know the common “you only get 18 summers with your kids” thread that stresses people out? To be honest, I love it as a reminder that I am soaking up all the summers, soaking up all the chaos, soaking up all the “busy”, soaking up all the “hands full.” BUT usually what goes along with that thought is then, “if you do it right, you get more.” And knowing the behind the scenes of this photos, makes my heart melt even more. Because I see my parents who have been soaking up all their kids’ summers into ours 20s, 30s, and beyond. Behind this picture I see grandparents that are conscious, and helpful, and caring, and are making the memories with me and my kids. I could not be more grateful!!

We will be waking up with a 4-year-old.

Collins is fierce and passionate. She puts 150% energy into every interaction and activity, which then requires some serious recharge. She is creative and imaginative. She takes a while to warm, so when she ‘chooses you,’ it’s the best feeling in the world. She loves reading and swimming and being with her cousins. She loves cuddling, but mostly only with mommy and Deacon, and daddy sometimesss. She loves cooking, folding towels, and painting. She will ask for a dance party and to “see a baby be born” every day. And she hopes to be a sister to 10 siblings or more. She is something special!! Our C🤍
