Cauliflower in my mind is one of the most versatile vegetables. You can do so much with it and it can take on so many different textures and flavours depending on how you prepare it. Cauliflower is completely underrated, so I want to pump up it’s ego a little bit!
5 New Ways to Make Cauliflower
#1: Pizza
Yup, I said pizza! Once washed, break into florets to pop in the food processor. Steam it, drain it, get all the moisture out with a towel, add shredded cheeses and eggs and spices to the mixture. Then form it into a pizza to bake for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Add toppings and bake again for about 10 minutes. Voila – you have yourself some Za! It may be more of a knife and fork kind of pizza, but who’s going to complain?!
#2: Mashed Cauliflower
This is a regular in my house. It has completely replaced mashed potatoes for me, and is a beautiful accompaniment to almost any meal! I steam the cauliflower, and then blend it with olive oil & water. It’s ready to go just like that, but add any spices you desire to give it the flavor you want!
#3: Roasted Cauliflower
You almost can’t get any easier than roasted cauliflower. Wash it, break it into florets, toss it with some olive oil and spices on a baking sheet. Then bake in the oven for about 20 minutes at 450 degrees Fahenrenheit. Pure deliciousness!
#4: Cauliflower Fried Rice
Craving rice, but want a vegetable instead of a grain? Here you go! You will need a food processor for this or a low-speed blender. Careful not to over-blend! There are so many different recipes you can find online, but for a quick break down…
Wash, cut, process that delicious cauliflower. Cook up some eggs and egg whites. Sauté some peas, carrots, onions, and garlic. Add everything together in a sauté pan for around 5 minutes and there you have it!
#5: Cauliflower “Macaroni” & Cheese
Do your usual thing by washing and chopping your cauliflower – in this case you will want bite-sized pieces for that real “pasta” feel! Start by cooking the cauliflower in a skillet for about 10 minutes with whatever fixings you may enjoy (bacon, onions, broccoli, for example). Then in a sauce pan, make your cheese topping however you like it (butter, cream, and shredded cheese). Combine the cauliflower mixture and cheese topping into a baking dish and cook at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. There you have a lower carb Mac & Cheese!
BONUS: Plain ol’ Cauliflower
Steam it. Bake it. Cook it up in whatever way Cauliflower makes you happy. Toss with some olive oil and spices. Lastly, enjoy your perfectly healthy and delicious side dish!
So, go ahead and cauliflower it up!!
