I have been blessed to have travelled a fair amount, and I have travelled with many different people. I have learned that the greatest “vacation killer” is unmet expectations. When one person thinks it’s going to be a huge party, and the other expects to get up at 6am to explore, both are let down. When one expects to fine dine and the other expects regular stops at McDonald’s, someone is left unhappy.

Everyone has a different style of vacation, and there are many travel chameleons out there, that can adapt to any situation, as long as they know what lies ahead.

I have said for many years that there should be a survey you take before you travel with someone. So, I decided to make it myself.

Here’s what you do:

  1. Print it off
  2. Fill it in truthfully with the kind of traveller you are (not the kind of traveller you want to be…hey, if you sleep until noon everyday, go for it! Just let the survey know!).
  3. Then get your potential travel companions to fill it out too!

Do you match up? Will the differences be okay for you? You may have different answers for different times in your life or different vacations! And most importantly, after you’re done, have fun travelling!!
