Remember my friend Kayleigh who got me on the sourdough train?! Well, she also helped me to never have to buy play dough again!! Here is how to make a batch of no-cook natural play dough that will last a few months if sealed well! It’s a fun, easy activity to make with kids, and it’s a great homemade gift idea.
No-Cook Natural Play Dough
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup table salt
- 2 tbsp. cream of tartar
- 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 cup boiled water (with natural food colouring)
Directions
- Boil water.
- While waiting for water to boil, in a medium-sized bowl, add 2 cups flour (only), salt, cream of tartar, and vegetable oil.
- In a separate bowl, mix boiled water with natural food colouring (I love Color Kitchen).
- Combine two bowls. Fold together by hand, adding additional 1 cup flour as needed (add 1/4 cup at a time) until you get your favourite play dough consistency.
Tip #1: Make sure not to use course salt.
Tip #2: If you need to soften play dough as time goes on, add a little water and form again.
Happy Playing!
